This morning we had a visit from Toby and Ross. Toby had his first meeting with Katy the camel. We checked out the chooks and ducks, horses and donkeys. Hopefully they will come back on a warmer day and maybe have a ride on a horse.

Janine came to stay with us at the weekend. Friday we went to the mill and got a load of sawdust. In the afternoon she helped with donkey dentistry and then had a ride on Smokey. Saturday morning she again rode Smokey. We did the morning jobs and then put the sawdust in the stalls. We planted some trees and had a ride across the paddock. Sunday was breakfast at Moorlands Bush Nursery. When we got home we set up some extra jumps and Janine put Driza through his paces over the jumps. The afternoon jobs were completed in record time. Not a bad weekend.
On Friday it was Eeyore's turn to have his teeth checked. The first challenge was to catch him and to tranquilize him. He walked into the small round yard but there was no way I could catch him to put a halter on him. We got him into the race and held him while Yasmine injected him. It was easy then to put the halter on him and get him out ready to check his teeth. He has quite a few missing teeth due to his age and some of the back ones were a bit too long so they had to be ground back. He didn't cope with the drugs quite as well as Seesaw and ended up sitting back on his haunches. It took him quite a while to get back onto all four hooves.
The renovation of the chook shed is now complete. New roosts, dropping board and nesting boxes are all in place. I think the girls like it!I did have the idea that I would look like The Man from Snowy River, however, alas, a little more like the Man from Snowy River's Grandad. We had a good downpour over night and there was standing water this morning. The horses were dressed in their rain sheets today. A very rare occurrence for the Sandalwood horses.
Seesaw, one of our donkeys has been ill this week. We called our Vets and Yasmin came out to tend to him to him. We think he could have had a virus but we wormed him as he had quite a high worm egg count and decided to do some dentistry.
