We have had two camels, they are dromedary camels. Camila was our first camel and we got her when she was a day old. Camila was abandoned by her mother and was brought to us. She was bottle fed with a special mix of powdered milk, cream and yoghurt. She started with one stubby a feed, four feeds a day and progressed to two wine bottles twice a day. She lived with our two goats Bob and Billy.
Six months later we got Katie, as a companion for Camila. Camila was terrified of her as she had never seen a camel before. Camila thought she was a large goat.
Late 2017 Camilla died. She had an accident one wet day and dislocated her hips, she deteriorated very quickly and we had to say goodbye.
We now have two goats, Gertie and Olaf. Gertie is about three years old. She is rather shy. Olaf is two years old and is very full of himself. He is into jumping in the air while trying to do a three sixty turn at the same time. He often runs sideways and bounces in the air. Olaf loves tap-dancing on tables.
